The Freakatorium, El Museo Loco CLOSED Details

Sadly, The Freakatorium became another victim of increasing rents and decreasing interest and closed its doors in 2005. The Freakatorium, El Museo Loco, was dedicated to the history and preservation of the dime museum, one of America's oldest and most distinctive forms of entertainment. With a rotating collection of over 1,000 artifacts and curiosities, the Freakatorium offers contemporary visitors a unique educational experience in an environment of wonder.

The Freakatorium lives on as a collection, and parts of it may still be seen in the performances of Johnny Fox, the magician, raconteur, and sword-swallower extaordinaire. The museum's many remarkable oddities, 19th-century photographs, original sideshow banners, and works of art by some of the great freaks, themselves, also continue to be available on loan to museums and film companies.
